National Junior Honor Society

Cheyenne National Junior Honor Society is a leadership organization which is open to 7th and 8th grades.

NJHS members participate in a number of activities during the school year, including a mentorship/tutoring program for lower grades; a Thanksgiving drive for a sister school, Hohokam; yearlong drives for specific needs at Hohokam; a school store; and a Valentines Day dance for 7/8 grades.

These activities culminate in our main philanthropy: a time and monetary donation to Roadrunner School in Phoenix. This school is a school for emotionally disabled students who, for various reasons, can not be a part of a mainstream school.

In addition, these students serve as exemplary leaders to the entire school.

Odyssey of the Mind

Odyssey of the Mind provides opportunities for students to develop creative problem solving skills. By working in teams, participants learn teamwork, self-respect, the appreciation and understanding of others, and that a group is a more powerful thinking force than an individual.

Cheyenne has four 7th and 8th grade teams preparing for the following competitions:

Central Divison – March 7th at Grand Canyon University

State Competition – April 4th at Grand Canyon University

World Finals – May 27-30th at Iowa State University

This program has had teams qualify for and travel to the World Finals three times!
